I have been using the Digitech Drop pedal with my Axe FX for quite a while now. It allows me to travel with less guitars, change tunings instantaneously, and makes life much easier. I recently found out that there is a way to do the same thing with the Axe FX, so I decided to do a comparison of the two, and see if one sounds better than the other. The DigiTech Drop pedal is a high quality pedal that can drop your guitar tuning up to an octave, and it sounds great! But the Axe FX and AX 8 have a pitch block setting that can do the same thing. I compare the two in this video.
Because it was requested, I did a comparison of the Axe FX pitch block and the DigiTech Drop when it is used with a clean tone. The affects of the pedal and pitch block are much more apparent in this scenario, and it is easy to tell the differences.
